Dear Addams Families,

This weekend many of us will take part in an American tradition… watching the Super Bowl. One of the things that makes the Super Bowl routinely the most watched event on TV each year is that it seemingly offers something for everyone. You get to witness athletes compete at the highest level while working together towards a collective goal of winning the game. At the same time, many people watch to see the talented musicians perform before the game and during the halftime show. While still others, watch just to see the commercials. Some of these 30/60 second spots will try to touch our hearts, others will make us laugh and/or get excited about the next big movie that will be coming out soon. Regardless of why you watch, the Super Bowl production provides a chance to see talented individuals striving to be the best in their chosen field. When I walk the halls of Addams Junior High each day I get equally inspired as watching a Super Bowl. Why? Because I see the big potential of these amazing students that are beginning the work to become future athletes, musicians, actors/actresses, marketing geniuses and producers of products that we have not even been invented yet!  I am confident that in ten years, many of our students will be contributing to future Super Bowls and events as they fulfill their goals and dreams.  We hope you are able to some spend quality time with each other this weekend.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out.

Regards,

Chris Bingen          Bill Musselman

8th grade Graduation
We are excited to announce that this year’s event will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Wintrust Field, also known as the Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.

In order to accommodate all families, we will be limiting each family to six tickets. Students will sit on the field with their classmates, while families will sit in the stands. In the event of rain, we will hold our graduation ceremony on Monday, June 3, at 5:30 pm at Hoffman Estates High School. Either way, the last day of school for eighth-grade students will be Friday, May 31. District 211 summer school classes start on June 3 and we want to ensure our eighth-graders can participate in those classes.

A livestream of the event will be posted to the District 54 YouTube Channel for individuals who are unable to be there that day. All students’ names will be read during the ceremony, whether or not they attend.

If your child is participating in the ceremony at Wintrust Field, they will be asked to purchase a gown and keepsake medallion to be worn at the ceremony. We will be sending payment information home soon.

In order to create a memorable experience, we would like to start by asking you to complete this quick Graduation Ceremony Survey by Monday, April 1, 2024, to determine which students will be participating and how many tickets you will need.

Thank you for your quick response to this survey. Please continue to read my weekly emails as I will continue to share additional information this spring about graduation and other end-of-the-year celebrations.

Kindergarten Registration
The countdown to an extraordinary journey has begun! Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is now open!  If you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in August 2024, we encourage you to visit our new Welcome to Kindergarten website and begin registration today. As a current District 54 family, you will register through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account.  If you do not have your login, please contact [email protected].  After completing the online portion of your student’s kindergarten registration, please call our school to make an appointment to turn in necessary documents. If you can, bring your future kindergartner with you, as we have a special surprise for them!  District 54 is also asking for your help in spreading the word about kindergarten registration. If you know of a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2024, please encourage the family to register today by visiting the sd54.org/kindergarten website. The sooner students enroll, the sooner District 54 will know how many kindergarten teachers we need to best serve our kindergarten class of 2024-25.

District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack.  We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities.
