 Addams Student Ambassadors

Dear Addams Community:

It has been another fantastic week of learning at Jane Addams Junior High! We are really stressing the importance of keeping up on classroom assignments and homework during the 3rd trimester. This can be the time of year that students need to demonstrate grit to keep pushing themselves. You know your children best, so if they work well with some subtle prodding, visit the Infinite Campus Parent Portal this weekend and check on their progress so far in trimester 3.

In addition, we are once again proud of our Addams Student Ambassadors as they helped out this morning at the D54 Special Olympics Young Athletes event at the Schaumburg Sports Center.  What a great opportunity for these students to share their gifts with other students in the district. Thank you Student Ambassadors for embodying our tenets of Accepting, Achieving and Amazing!

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Regards,

Chris Bingen         Bill Musselman

Principal               Assistant Principal

Personal Assessment of Core Competency Survey (SEL Survey)
District 54 is committed to ensuring not only the academic success of each child, but also their social-emotional wellbeing. Your insight as a parent/guardian is essential in creating the most well rounded picture of your student’s strengths and opportunities for growth. To gather your perspective, District 54 will send families of students in grades 3-8 an email link for each child to the District 54 Personal Assessment of Core Competency Survey on Monday, April 17th.  Thank you in advance for participating in this survey, as we believe the home-school collaboration is critical to best support your child’s overall well-being.

Save your bottle caps
Our Student Ambassadors are working on a whole school project to help the environment. We are collecting plastic bottle caps. If we receive enough, we will be able to have them repurposed into a bench for the school. Please help us by saving your caps and sending them to school with your child on a regular basis.

Graduation Gowns and Medallions
If you have still not purchased your child’s graduation gown and keepsake medallion, please do so now. Payment for gowns and medallions can be made in one of three ways:

  1. Log on to the school store on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and purchase the gown/medallion. The cost is $22 (with a $2 processing fee).
  2. Make a check out to Addams Junior High for $22 and drop it off at the Addams office.
  3. Send your student with $22 cash in an envelope with their name on it, labeled “graduation fee”.

Payment is due ASAP.  Please email Mr. Bingen if you are in need of financial assistance.

District 54 Virtual Backpack

District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack.  We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities. At the same time, we don’t want the homework, letters from the teachers, school news and other important district information to get lost among the countless other pieces of paper in our students’ backpacks.  Please click here for additional information.
