Media Production Course Description
Media Production is intended to introduce the middle school student to production, performance, and theory involved in the creation of digital video and photography. Emphasis will include media literacy, manipulation of the message, technical aspects of video production, advertising, photography, and physical and verbal communication. In addition to concept oriented class assignments, students are responsible for collaboration, following directions, and critique of peer work, as well as, critique of their own work, on a daily basis.

- understand, interpret, judge, and create messages in multi-media formats.
- operate various models of digital cameras and Digital Video (DV) camcorders.
- create a fictitious business, learning marketing and advertising and how to be an entrepreneur.
- set-up and care for television studio equipment.
- utilize a story board to produce a production.
- export DV into non-linear editing programs.
- utilize editing programs produce a professional video production.
- utilize standard lighting techniques.
- utilize standard audio equipment.
- capture, record, and export a digital photo to Photoshop.
- utilize Photoshop to import, edit, and print a digital photo.
