Assembly

Dear Addams Families,

Some days are just better than others… and today was one of those days! We are so grateful to Supt. DuRoss and the District 54 leadership team for bringing guest speaker Chris Singleton to our school. Twenty-six-year-old Chris, is a former baseball player in the Chicago Cubs farm system that lost his mom to a hate crime. Chris’s message is one of resilience, forgiveness, and unity to create a world where “love is stronger than hate.” I don’t know that I have ever witnessed a speaker that was able to captivate the attention of a student body, quite like he did this morning. We talk all the time at Addams about embracing the diversity in our school and being kind to all. These ideas are at the center of our “A” of Acceptance. Chris really supported us in moving towards our goal with his presentation today. Please take a few minutes this weekend to speak with your child about what resonated with him/her from today’s assembly. I am hopeful that they will come home with much to report (and that is saying something for most junior high aged students). I shared his website last week, but in case you missed it, here it is: https://www.chrissingleton.com/

I wish everyone an AMAZING weekend! Go Bears!

Regards,

Chris Bingen
