Dear Addams Families,

It has been a week since our National Banner Unified Champion School ceremony and the staff of Addams is still floating on a cloud. I am excited to share that Mr. Truppa and our media students have produced a video of the ceremony. Click here to view the entire assembly. If you do not have time to watch the whole ceremony, I would highly suggest you fast forward to 3:40 mark (student introductions) and 40-minute mark (whole school roller coaster.) You will not be disappointed! As we continue our work of creating an even more inclusive environment, four of our REACH classrooms and partners (almost 40 students) participated in a virtual leadership training yesterday. The training was presented by members of the Youth Activation Committee broadcasting from Normal, IL via Zoom. Over half of the YAC members are students from District 54. Addams own, Maxine and Daimely, were among those that presented. We will continue to offer these types of activities to develop future leaders and solidify the Addams Junior High culture of acceptance.

Girls Volleyball and Wrestling
Permission slips for girls interested in trying out for volleyball are located in the cafeteria or digitally on the Addams’ website.  A completed permission slip, concussion form, and physical need to be turned in by December 19th to Coach Faust or Coach Huber.  Tryouts will start when students return from winter break, the week of January 8th.  Any questions, please reach out to Kelli Faust ([email protected])

Join PTA
Help support the PTA by purchasing a membership.  Memberships are only $10 or 2 for $15.
Purchase memberships online and your membership card will be emailed to you. Anyone can join: Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa or any community members.  PTA is an organization that advocates for the students at Addams Jr. High. All funds are used to organize activities and events that benefit Addams Jr. High students and teachers.  PTA helps support many great events including: assemblies, Addams 5k in the fall, 8th grade activity day and dance, and to show our appreciation for the Addams teachers throughout the year.  

Fun Lunch
Fun Lunches continue each Friday through the Marla’s Lunch website. Here are directions on how to order. All orders are due on Tuesday at 9am for the following week.

District 54 Virtual Backpack
 District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack.  We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities. At the same time, we don’t want the homework, letters from the teachers, school news and other important district information to get lost among the countless other pieces of paper in our students’ backpacks.  Please click here for additional information.

Multicultural Event 2024 – Performers Needed!
Each year the Department of Language and Culture, along with the Schaumburg Park District, presents a Multicultural Event. The 2024 event will take place on Saturday, March 2, at the Community Recreation Center (CRC) and will showcase the diversity represented by the students of District 54. During the event, student groups have the opportunity to give performances that reflect various cultures. If your student is interested in participating, please complete the Performance Interest Form by December 6th. You will be notified whether or not your performance has been chosen to participate by email by December 13th.
