Dear Addams Families,

As we make our way towards the last four days of school before winter break, we just wanted to send a note of gratitude to the Addams community. We feel so fortunate to work with and learn from our staff and students each day! The Addams community truly AMAZES! We wish families a safe and healthy holiday season and look forward to seeing our students grow in 2024!

Upcoming Dates:

• 12/21 – Winter break begins at the end of the day
• 12/21 – No afterschool activities or late buses, office closed at 3 pm
• 1/8 – School Resumes
• 1/15 –  Martin Luther King Jr. Day – no school

Thursday, December 21
Thursday, December 21 is a full day of school attendance. There is no school on Friday, December 22. We will NOT be running late buses or afterschool activities on Thursday, December 21. The office will close at 3 pm for the holiday break not reopen until Monday, January 8. 

Elective Selection Process for next year (Current 7th graders)
 If you have not done so already, we ask that you complete the elective selection process.  The elective selection process for 8th grade is very important. We ask that you and your student submit their elective class requests by following the directions for selecting electives on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. The elective course selections are due by Friday, December 22nd.  More information about each elective can also be found on our website at the following link: https://addams.sd54.org/electives/

Girls Volleyball and Wrestling
Permission slips for girls interested in trying out for volleyball are located in the cafeteria or digitally on the Addams’ website.  A completed permission slip, concussion form, and physical need to be turned in by December 19th to Coach Faust or Coach Huber.  Tryouts will start when students return from winter break, the week of January 8th.  Any questions, please reach out to Kelli Faust ([email protected])

Join PTA
Help support the PTA by purchasing a membership.  Memberships are only $10 or 2 for $15.
Purchase memberships online and your membership card will be emailed to you. Anyone can join: Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa or any community members.  PTA is an organization that advocates for the students at Addams Jr. High. All funds are used to organize activities and events that benefit Addams Jr. High students and teachers.  PTA helps support many great events including: assemblies, Addams 5k in the fall, 8th grade activity day and dance, and to show our appreciation for the Addams teachers throughout the year.  

Fun Lunch
Fun Lunches continue each Friday through the Marla’s Lunch website. Here are directions on how to order. All orders are due on Tuesday at 9am for the following week.

District 54 Virtual Backpack
 District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack.  We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities. At the same time, we don’t want the homework, letters from the teachers, school news and other important district information to get lost among the countless other pieces of paper in our students’ backpacks.  Please click here for additional information.

Multicultural Event 2024 – Performers Needed!
Each year the Department of Language and Culture, along with the Schaumburg Park District, presents a Multicultural Event. The 2024 event will take place on Saturday, March 2, at the Community Recreation Center (CRC) and will showcase the diversity represented by the students of District 54. During the event, student groups have the opportunity to give performances that reflect various cultures. If your student is interested in participating, please complete the Performance Interest Form by December 6th. You will be notified whether or not your performance has been chosen to participate by email by December 13th.
