Principal’s Message

Addams Families,

We are wrapping up another great week here at Addams and are looking forward to our whole school Music BINGO to end our day this afternoon.  As a reminder, students are not in session next week and parent teacher conferences will be taking place on Monday and Tuesday.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving break and holiday– we are thankful for your continued partnership at Addams.

Conferences
You can review your conference times/locations and join Zoom meetings if you signed up for a virtual conference by logging back into your PTC Wizard Account.

Addams Online Book Fair
Addams is hosting an online Book Fair.  Find a new book to read or give a book as a gift!  Click here to view and order available titles.  Select your child’s LA teacher’s name when you place your order.  Books will be delivered to Addams.  The book fair is open now though December 6th.  Email Ms. Kay at [email protected] with any questions.

Chromebook Reminder
Chromebooks are integral to student learning on a daily basis, and we have a limited number of loaner Chromebooks and chargers. Please remind your child to bring a charged Chromebook each day so they are prepared for learning. It could be helpful to create a routine of plugging it in before bedtime. We appreciate the support.
 

MAP Assessments

MAP testing will be taking place at Addams on 12/3-12/4 for Math and 12/10-12/11 for Reading. Students will be testing in their math and LA classes.  We will be testing students using the computer-based MAP assessment tools. The purpose of MAP Growth is to inform teachers of the immediate instructional needs of students.  MAP results equip educators with key data to help personalize instruction and pinpoint individual student needs.

Report Card Access

The first trimester Whole Child Report Cards are available online in the District 54 Parent Portal. You can also quickly access report cards by visiting families.sd54.org and logging in using your portal password. We hope that all families will check the report cards and use the information to celebrate with their children their academic successes. I am very proud of our students. If you don’t remember your password or you have not previously logged on to the portal, please contact [email protected] or (847) 357-5110.

Girl’s Volleyball
Students interested in signing up for girl’s volleyball should have parents complete the permission slip.  Concussion forms are in the cafeteria for students to pick up and bring home for a parent signature.

PTA News

Dine to Donate- Old Town Pizza
Addams is hosting a dine to donate event at Old Town Pizza on Friday, December 13th from 5-10pm.  Mention this fundraiser when you order and Old Town Pizza will donate 20% of the sales to the Addams PTA.  Old Town Pizza is located at 906 Bode Road in Schaumburg.

Join PTA 
Help support the PTA by purchasing a membership.  Memberships are only $10 or 2 for $15. Purchase memberships online and your membership card will be emailed to you. Anyone can join: Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa or any community members.

Fun Lunch Fridays
Fun Lunches are held every Friday. Order Fun Lunch through the Marla’s Lunch website. Here are directions on how to order. If this is your first time making an account, please see the directions for the one-time school password.  All orders are due on Tuesday at 9am for the following week.

No Food Deliveries Allowed
With a focus on student and staff safety, District 54 does not allow food delivery services (including, but not limited to, GrubHub, DoorDash, and local restaurants) to our schools.

District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack.  We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities.
