Activity bus- 4:00pm late runs

For students who qualify for busing, our late runs will begin on Thursday, August 21. Any bus-riding student that stays after school can board a designated bus that departs from Addams at 4pm. Please note, activity buses do not drop off students at their regular bus stop. Instead, their drop-off locations are in the vicinity of what would be 2 or 3 regular bus stops. Students will learn which bus to board and which stop is best for them.

Schaumburg Teen Center

aka The Club, provides afterschool programming to teens throughout Schaumburg, including D54 students. At the Club, we aim for each teen member to have fun in a safe environment, while fostering supportive relationships with staff and peers, exposing youth to unique program opportunities, and recognizing members for their efforts and accomplishments.
The Basics:
  • Our teen program offers FREE membership to ensure that all students interested in participating can join. The program is sponsored by various funding sources that are invested in the youth in their community.
  • Programs are offered Monday through Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at “the barn” on 231 Civic Drive. The Club also opens early on D54 half days and is open on select non-school days.
  • D54 provides transportation from Addams, on days when school is in session. Limited close-to-home evening transportation is also provided throughout the afternoon and evening.

District 54 News

Run to Read
Join the District 54 Education Foundation and School District 54 at the 21st annual Run to Read on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Dirksen School. This event will include a 5K run/walk, a 1-mile walk and children’s races. All proceeds will support financially struggling District 54 families. Register for the 2025 Run to Read by Sept. 5 to get early bird pricing.

Supervision/Behavior Expectations for Attending District 211 Football Games
As we approach another exciting season of high school football, District 211 values the presence and enthusiasm of our local junior high school students at our games. We believe that creating a positive and respectful environment is essential for everyone to enjoy the experience.
To that end, we would like to outline the supervision and behavior expectations we hold for our junior high school attendees: Role of Adult Chaperones: Junior high school students attending our games must be accompanied by a parent or adult responsible for their supervision. The presence of responsible adults not only ensures the safety and well-being of the students but also sets a positive example for behavior and sportsmanship.

NEW – Motorized Bikes, Scooters, and Skateboards Prohibited
Electric bikes, scooters and skateboards are not permitted on District 54 property, due to safety concerns including the potential for accidents and the possibility of fire associated with such devices. This applies to students, as well as to family members and friends who may be picking up or dropping off students at school.

MAP Testing
On Monday, August 25-26, students will complete Math MAP testing in their math classes. Reading MAP testing will take place on Tuesday, September 2-3 while students are in their language arts classes. The purpose of MAP Growth is to inform teachers of the immediate instructional needs of students. MAP results equip educators with key data to help personalize instruction and pinpoint individual student needs. Please note that MAP has updated their national norms in 2025 so you may see some variance in your students’ national percentile rank than in past MAP assessments.

No Food Deliveries Allowed
With a focus on student and staff safety, District 54 will not allow food delivery services (including, but not limited to, GrubHub, DoorDash, and local restaurants) to our schools. We will continue to have hot lunch days, which are planned events, organized and supervised by school or PTA volunteers. However, we will no longer accept other outside food deliveries to keep our schools secure.

District 211 – Class of 2030

There are several activities that occur during a student’s eighth-grade year as they prepare to transition to high school.
