Principal’s Message
Addams Families,
It was another great week at Addams showcased through high levels of Achievement and Acceptance. Student successes were on high display at the STEAM Showcase, Club Unify Bowling Event, and multiple athletic contests. We continue to be very proud of all our Crusaders for their fantastic talents!
With the last month of school right around the corner, I wanted to take a moment and thank the Addams community once again for your continued partnership and support to ensure student success. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support and we Accept, Achieve, and Amaze to ensure the success of our students.
Regards,
Bill Musselman
Principal

The fundraiser at Addams will continue through Friday, May 2 and any contributions are greatly appreciated!
How can you participate? Money can be donated via cash, QR Code, or check. All checks can be made out to School District 54. Cash and check can be placed in a sealed envelope and turned in to the main office with the form below. We ask that students do not go door to door asking for money. Each school will celebrate on May 9th!

8th Grade Graduation
This year we will be hosting our graduation at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Schaumburg High School. We will not be issuing tickets this year, however, due to the capacity of the gymnasium, we ask all families to please limit the total number of family members in attendance.
Please plan to arrive by 5:00 pm on the night of the ceremony so students have time to line up in the cafeteria and you have time to find your seats. There will be some seats available on the floor for individuals who cannot navigate the bleachers.
The last day of school for eighth-grade students will be Friday, May 23, 2025. On this day, students will be rehearsing for the graduation ceremony and all 8th grade students MUST be in attendance. 8th grade students will not be in attendance on Tuesday, May 27 prior to Graduation.
Graduation Gowns and Medals
All graduates will be required to purchase a gown and a keepsake medallion for the ceremony. 8th grade parents, you have the option to pay for the gown and medallion by logging on to the Infinite Campus parent portal and locating the “School Store” tab. The price for both of these items is $25 plus a small processing fee. If you prefer, you can send a check (made out to Jane Addams Junior High School) or $25 cash with your student to the main office. If purchasing the gown/medallion represents a hardship for any family, email Mr. Musselman and the school will be happy to provide financial support. Students will not receive the above items until payment is received or arrangements have been made. Please note, District 54 schools DO NOT wear caps for our graduation ceremonies.
Save the Date – 8th Grade Dance
Our 8th grade dance will be held at Jane Addams Junior High for all interested 8th graders on Friday, May 9 from 6 to 8 pm. The price to attend the dance is $5, and tickets will be available for purchase during lunch periods beginning May 1st. All 8th grade students planning to attend must be academically eligible and display quality student behavior. To create a peak moment for our 8th graders.

2025 Personal Assessment of Core Competency Survey
District 54 is committed to ensuring not only the academic success of each child, but also their social-emotional well-being. Similar to this winter, we are asking for your insight as a parent/guardian in creating the most well rounded picture of your child’s strengths and opportunities for growth. To gather your perspective, District 54 sent families of students in grades 3-8 an email link for each child to the D54 Social Emotional Learning Survey on Monday, April 21. Thank you in advance for participating in this survey, as we believe the home-school collaboration is critical to best support your child’s overall well-being. The deadline to complete the survey is May 9.

Kindergarten Registration
The countdown to an extraordinary journey has begun! Kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year is now open! If you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in August 2025, we encourage you to log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account and complete the online portion of the application now. If you do not have your login, please contact [email protected].
After completing the online application, please call your child’s school to make an appointment to turn in necessary documents in order to finish your child’s registration. If you can, bring your future kindergartner with you, as we have a special surprise for them!
District 54 is also asking for your help in spreading the word about kindergarten registration. If you know of a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2025, please encourage the family to start their enrollment online at sd54.org/kindergarten. The sooner students enroll, the sooner District 54 will know how many kindergarten teachers we need to best serve our kindergarten class of 2025-26.
No Food Deliveries Allowed
With a focus on student and staff safety, District 54 does not allow food delivery services (including, but not limited to, GrubHub, DoorDash, and local restaurants) to our schools.

District 54 Virtual Backpack
District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack. We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities. At the same time, we don’t want the homework, letters from the teachers, school news and other important district information to get lost among the countless other pieces of paper in our students’ backpacks. Please click here for additional information.
