Dear Parents/Guardians of 8th Graders,

As your child’s eighth-grade year winds down, I wanted to reconnect with you regarding information for the rest of the year leading to the graduation ceremony. Please see below.

  • 8th grade Dance: The 8th grade dance will be held this Friday night from 5 to 7:30 pm. Tickets will be sold during student lunch periods through Thursday. Tickets will NOT be sold Friday or at the door because we need to order food based on the number of tickets sold. In order for students to attend the dance, they must not have excessive missing assignments (missing 3 or less), meet behavioral expectations and be at school for at least a half day on Friday.
  • Yearbooks:  For those families that have purchased a yearbook for their child, they will be distributed on Wednesday, May 29 during Inspire. We do have some extra yearbooks available for purchase. This is a first come, first serve basis. Only online orders will be accepted at this time.

To place an order, follow the instructions below. To place an order, go to www.jostens.com.

    1. Click on “Find My School/Group”.
    2. Type “Jane Addams Junior High School, Schaumburg, IL” in the search bar.
    3. Click on the “Jane Addams Junior High School” crusader icon.
    4. Click “2024 Yearbook” then “Order My Yearbook”.
    5. Complete the online order form. Be sure the order goes through and you receive a confirmation number. Please keep your confirmation number!

  • Chromebook Return:  On Thursday, May 30, eighth-grade students will be returning their Chromebooks and Chromebook Chargers during their LA classes. The last day for eighth grade students to access their Google account will be Friday, May 31.

  • Graduation Practice:  Graduation practice for our eighth-grade students will take place during the last day of school on Friday, May 31.  Students will receive their 6 tickets to graduation during the practice.

  • Graduation Activities Day, May 31: In addition to practicing for graduation, we will take a break during the day to celebrate with our 8th graders. There will be old fashioned carnival games, a professional photo booth along with raffle prizes from the generous donations provided by parents. Students who are interested will be able to purchase Old Town pizza slices. In addition, we will have water, Culvers custard, chips and popcorn for everyone. Students that are not ordering pizza should consider bringing a lunch to supplement the treats. The activity day will be outside (weather permitted) so students may want to wear or bring sunblock.

  • Graduation Ceremony
    1. The graduation ceremony will begin promptly at 2:30 pm on Sunday, June 2nd, at Wintrust Field (also known as Schaumburg Boomers Stadium) 1999 South Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg.  Graduates should arrive no later than 2 pm and report to the small parking lot on the southeast side of the stadium. Families are asked to park in the South lot.
    2. A livestream of the ceremony will be posted to the District 54 YouTube Channel for individuals who are unable to be there that day.
    3. Students will be walking on the dirt path along the first base line when they enter, and therefore choose your footwear wisely.

  • Graduation Gowns: Any 8th grader that has already paid for a gown, received it this past Tuesday. If your child did not receive the gown that means we still need you to purchase one ASAP. If you still need to purchase your child’s gown and medallion log on to the Infinite Campus parent portal and locating the “School Store” tab. The price for both of these items is $25 plus a small processing fee. If you prefer, you can send a check (made out to Jane Addams Junior High School) or $25 cash with your student to the main office. If purchasing the gown/medallion represents a hardship for any family, email Mr. Bingen and the school will be happy to provide financial support.
  • Graduation Medallions:  All graduates will receive their keepsake 8th grade medallion at the ceremony.

  • Where do we enter the stadium? Guests with special needs can enter through the “Main Entrance” and will be guided to a designated seating area on the concourse. All other guests should enter at the “1st Base Gate”.

  • What happens if it rains on graduation day?
If we should have to cancel the ceremony due to inclement weather, we will notify all families by 2:30 pm that day. We will transition to an indoor graduation at 5:30 pm on Monday, June 3rd at Hoffman Estates High School. 8th graders would NOT attend school on Monday, June 3.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our front office staff or me. Thank you for your continuous support this year!

 Regards,

 Chris Bingen
