Dear Addams Families,

Today was a day of great celebration at Jane Addams Junior High. Our school became 1 of only 4 schools in the state of Illinois to receive the prestigious honor of being recertified as a National Unified Champion School! CEO of Special Olympics Illinois, Pete Beale-Delvecchio presented Addams with a new banner during a special whole school ceremony. There were many other special guests in attendance at the assembly including State Senator Laura Murphy, State Representative Michelle Mussman, Superintendent Andy DuRoss, School Board Members Bob Kaplan and Mary Kay Prusnick, and the entire D54 Cabinet. A Unified Champion School receiving national banner recognition is one that has demonstrated commitment to inclusion by meeting 10 national standards of excellence. These standards were developed by a national panel of leaders from Special Olympics and the education community. The real stars of the show today, however, were your children! They definitely displayed our three tenets of Accept, Achieve and Amaze and we are so proud of them!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
