Principal’s Message

Addams Families,

It was another great week at Addams highlighted by our 3A’s assembly. It brings me great joy to recognize so many students for their achievements. In addition, we enhanced our sense of community by way of our Day of Belonging Rock, Paper, Scissors challenge. Finally, we officially kicked off the district-wide fundraiser for the American Cancer Society with an announcement from our Student Ambassadors! Fundraising is open. You can find more information in the attached flyer or blurb below.

I am looking forward to next week as the students will revisit their academic goals and action plans so we can finish strong.  Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support and we will Accept, Achieve, and Amaze to ensure the success of our students.

Regards,

Bill Musselman        Tricia Leong

American Cancer Society Community Service Event in D54

In the month of April, all District 54 schools will participate in the first annual community service event.  District 54 will be supporting the American Cancer Society by fundraising money to make a difference for families. The American Cancer Society strives to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families. They help ensure everyone has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. With the help of your donations, the lives of families and patients can be drastically improved.

How can you participate?  Money can be donated via cash, QR Code, or check.  All checks can be made out to School District 54. Cash and check can be placed in a sealed envelope and turned in to the main office with the form below. We ask that students do not go door to door asking for money.  Each school will celebrate on May 9th!

If you would like to donate electronically, please click HERE, or scan the QR code

2025 STEAM Showcase

The 7th Annual STEAM Showcase will take place on April 21st from 6-7PM at the School District 54 Professional Learning Center.   Please click on 2025 Michelle I. Burke STEAM Showcase flyer for more information.

8th Grade Graduation

This year we will be hosting our graduation at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Schaumburg High School. We will not be issuing tickets this year, however, due to the capacity of the gymnasium, we ask all families to please limit the total number of family members in attendance.

Please plan to arrive by 5:00 pm on the night of the ceremony so students have time to line up in the cafeteria and you have time to find your seats. There will be some seats available on the floor for individuals who cannot navigate the bleachers.

The last day of school for eighth-grade students will be Friday, May 23, 2025. On this day, students will be rehearsing for the graduation ceremony and all 8th grade students MUST be in attendance. 8th grade students will not be in attendance on Tuesday, May 27 prior to Graduation.

Graduation Gowns and Medals

All graduates will be required to purchase a gown and a keepsake medallion for the ceremony. 8th grade parents, you have the option to pay for the gown and medallion by logging on to the Infinite Campus parent portal and locating the “School Store” tab. The price for both of these items is $25 plus a small processing fee. If you prefer, you can send a check (made out to Jane Addams Junior High School) or $25 cash with your student to the main office. If purchasing the gown/medallion represents a hardship for any family, email Mr. Musselman and the school will be happy to provide financial support. Students will not receive the above items until payment is received or arrangements have been made. Let us know if you have any questions.

The countdown to an extraordinary journey has begun! Kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year is now open! If you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in August 2025, we encourage you to log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account and complete the online portion of the application now.  If you do not have your login, please contact [email protected].

After completing the online application, please call your child’s school to make an appointment to turn in necessary documents in order to finish your child’s registration. If you can, bring your future kindergartner with you, as we have a special surprise for them!

If you know of a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2025, please encourage the family to start their enrollment online at sd54.org/kindergarten. The sooner students enroll, the sooner District 54 will know how many kindergarten teachers we need to best serve our kindergarten class of 2025-26.

District 54 Virtual Backpack

District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack.  We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities. At the same time, we don’t want the homework, letters from the teachers, school news and other important district information to get lost among the countless other pieces of paper in our students’ backpacks.  Please click here for additional information.
