Dear Addams Families,
The school year is off to a fantastic start! The students did a wonderful job of learning our expectations and getting into the swing of the new school year. Thank you to all the families that came out to Information Day and our Block Party this past Tuesday. It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet those that are new to our school.
Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns as we work together to ensure that our students maximize their learning potential.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Regards,
Bill Musselman Tricia Leong
Principal Assistant Principal
Curriculum Night Information
Our Curriculum Night will be held on Tuesday, August 20 from 6:00 pm – 8:04 pm. The night will begin in the gymnasium with a presentation from administration. This evening provides our staff the opportunity to interact with you and help set the tone for a positive school year. During Curriculum Night, you will have an opportunity to see our school, hear about our curriculum, and most importantly, meet our staff. Our curriculum, special programs, and student expectations will be part of the teacher presentations. We look forward to sharing our Addams vision to Accept, Achieve and Amaze! Curriculum Night is a parents-only evening and is not meant for individual conferences. Parents are welcome to contact teachers anytime via phone or email to discuss successes or challenges of their child.
The evening’s program will begin at 6:00 PM in the gymnasium with a presentation by administration. We will follow the time schedule listed below:

Drop-off procedures
Thank you to all of the families who ensured our students arrived safely last week. A community map is attached, and I highlighted the two appropriate areas to drop off students. To ensure student safety, cars are not allowed in the Addams parking lot from 7:20 – 7:40.
- All big bus riders will enter the building through Door 1
- All small bus riders should enter the building through the cafeteria doors
- Students who walk or are dropped off from the Atcher and Dartmouth Lane directions should enter the building through door 5 (YELLOW pathway on map)
- Students who walk or are dropped off from the Norwell and Westover Lanes should enter the building through door 21 after utilizing the crosswalk in our parking lot (BLUE pathway on map)
Cross Country and Girls Basketball
Cross Country and Girls Basketball start on Thursday, August 22. Students interested in any extracurricular sport in District 54 must have a current sports physical on file with the nurse, along with concussion protocol forms signed to tryout/participate. Please note that physical examinations are good for one year from the date of the exam.
Cross country is a no cut sport, open to anyone that likes to run and have fun! Girls basketball is a cut sport. Any questions regarding the current paperwork on file, please contact our school nurse, [email protected]
Fall MAP Testing
Students will participate in fall MAP testing during mathematics classes 8/26-8/28. Reading MAP will follow on 8/29-9/3. As a reminder these are important assessments that provide our staff and families a temperature test of present levels for students in both mathematics and reading. We utilize the results to inform our practice and plan instruction by “name and need”.
Picture Day
Addams picture day will be Friday, 9/6. You will have the ability to submit your pre-orders online or you will be able to order via a paper form that will be sent home with your student. More details to come.
