Dear Addams Community:

What a beautiful day! We hope that everyone has plans to get outside this weekend as we know that Chicago weather can change at any time. We wanted to share some prideful news from this week. The Illinois State Board of Education holds meetings outside of Springfield three times during the school year. This past Wednesday, District 54 hosted this leadership group. As part of their day, the members of the State Board, D54 Cabinet and other honored guests toured two schools in District 54, the Early Learning Center and Jane Addams Junior High. We were so PROUD to represent D54 and share with this group all about our amazing students and staff. They were able to experience a variety of classes during their visit including our Dual Language Japanese, Chinese Immersion, REACH and RISE programs along with STEM classrooms. All twenty or so of our guests even were able to witness our 770 students in “live” action during a couple of passing periods. The students were curious and awesome! Our mantra of Accept, Achieve and Amaze was on full display during the visit.

In addition, we want to send one last reminder that we will be holding a Family Movie Night this evening starting at 6 pm. It is not too late to sign up! Please see below for more details.

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!

Regards,

Chris Bingen       Principal

2022 Personal Assessment of Core Competency
District 54 is committed to ensuring not only the academic success of each child, but also their social-emotional wellbeing. Your insight as a parent/guardian is essential in creating the most well-rounded picture of your student’s strengths and opportunities for growth. To gather your perspective, District 54 will send families of students in grades 3-8 an email link for each child to the District 54 Personal Assessment of Core Competency (previously called the SEL Survey) on Monday, October 3.

District 54 Virtual Backpack

District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack.  We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities. At the same time, we don’t want the homework, letters from the teachers, school news and other important district information to get lost among the countless other pieces of paper in our students’ backpacks.  Please click here for additional information.
