Last Thursday, our cross country coaches hosted the 26th Annual Addams Fall Flite. It was an inspirational afternoon as student athletes from 11 schools competed in the races. We are very proud to host such a wonderful event.
The Girls Basketball team wants to do something to support the survivors, the fighters and those that have lost the battle to Breast Cancer.

We had our first 3 A's assembly on Wednesday!
Staff and students were honored with the Three A's Awards. This award is given to those who #Accept, #Achieve, and #Amaze. Families were invited to join the celebration and enjoy donuts with their nominees!
Then, students participated in raffles and prize drawings. There was even a relay race and a hungry hungry hippos game!

Our 8th grade LA students had a busy first few weeks of school! They have already written biographies after interviewing their classmates, spent time enjoying new novels in the LMC, and collaborated in groups to preview upcoming units in their new textbooks. We are so excited for a super successful school year!
Addams Picture Day is scheduled for Monday, September 14th. Representatives from Lifetouch will be at Addams on this day to take students’ pictures. Beginning on Thursday, September 3, cheese pizza will be served from Old Town Pizza every Tuesday and Thursday for interested students.

No Food Deliveries Allowed
With a focus on student and staff safety, District 54 will not allow food delivery services (including, but not limited to, GrubHub, DoorDash, and local restaurants) to our schools. We will continue to have hot lunch days, which are planned events, organized and supervised by school or PTA volunteers. However, we will no longer accept other outside food deliveries to keep our schools secure.

Motorized Bikes, Scooters, and Skateboards Prohibited
Electric bikes, scooters and skateboards are not permitted on District 54 property, due to safety concerns including the potential for accidents and the possibility of fire associated with such devices. This applies to students, as well as to family members and friends who may be picking up or dropping off students at school.

Addams has the Visitor Aware management system.
- When you visit the school you will still ring the doorbell and be buzzed into the vestibule. If you are just dropping off a lunch or some other item, you can put your student’s name on the item (labels will be available) and leave it on the designated shelving unit.
- If you need to enter the main office during school hours, then you will stop at the self-serve tablet in the vestibule and check in as a visitor.
- At these tablets, you will have your photo taken, type in your phone number and enter your destination in the building.
- Instructions on the tablet will prompt you to take your photo. During this step, you will be asked to check a box allowing us to use facial recognition to check you in faster on a future visit. It’s up to you whether or not you check this box.
- If it’s your first time using the tablet, you will need to scan your ID. The camera for the ID scan is located at the top left side, behind the tablet. Both driver’s licenses and state IDs are accepted. SCAN the back of ID.
- The system runs that information against FBI and Interpol lists, predator databases and active court orders to ensure the individuals we are admitting to our buildings are safe.
- If you are cleared, a badge with your name, photo and destination will be printed for you to wear while you are in the building. School staff and the District 54 Safety Team will be alerted to anyone who is flagged.
