Dear Parents/Guardians,

Let us be the first to welcome you and your family to Jane Addams Junior High! It is our privilege to have the opportunity to work alongside you and your child(ren) over the next two years as we embark on their educational journey to ensure success. This correspondence will be the first of many that will enable our students a smooth transition into Addams. 

We know how important this time is for both you and your sixth-grade student, as we are just as eager to have them join our Addams community. While your child begins this new phase in their educational career, it is vital to ensure the appropriate steps to allow for communication in our partnership so that we may be able to work together in all that we do. With that said, I would like to provide the families with an initial timeline of events that will begin the process of transitioning into Addams. 

Initial Transition Timeline of Events:

Infinite Campus Parent Portal Information:
 Infinite campus is District 54’s student information system that connects parents to information.  Through Infinite Campus, parents will have access to the Parent Portal.  The Parent Portal provides access for parents to information regarding their child including paying fees, viewing assignments, attendance, grades, academic schedule, and teacher comments. 

If you currently do not have a Parent Portal account, please email [email protected] or you can call the front office at your child’s elementary school and one of the secretaries can assist you.  If you need help logging on to the Infinite Campus portal click here, email [email protected], or call portal support at 847-357-5110.  If you have previously created a Parent Portal account and cannot recall your username or password, you can reset them yourself from the portal website by selecting forgot password.

Infinite Campus Elective Request Directions:  

1. Click here to login to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
2. After logging into Campus Student/Campus Parent select “MORE” from the Index. Then select “COURSE REGISTRATION”.
3. Select your student’s next year enrollment “23-24 ADDAMS JR HIGH SCHOOL” 
4. You are now ready to enter Course Requests.

• Click the “ADD COURSE” button to begin.
• Please note:   

• You will be limited in requesting two (2) elective classes.
• You can also put in alternatives, just in case your original requests cannot be filled.
• Course descriptions for each elective course are embedded in Infinite Campus, and can be found by clicking on the plus sign (+) by each course name.
• These directions with screenshots have been attached to this email as well.

Elective Request Information:  

Please know that our priority when scheduling is ensuring that your child is placed in the appropriate core content classes (language arts, mathematics, social science, science, and PE/health).  Once those classes are scheduled, effort will be made to honor your child’s elective requests.  However, due to priority scheduling placed on core content class placement, we cannot guarantee that your child will get both electives they have requested.  With more than 770 students in our school, the task of ensuring that all students are placed into both of their requested electives is challenging, and electives are not guaranteed.

We understand that your child’s schedule is very important to you and your child.  We appreciate the trust you have given us in using our best professional judgment in placing students.  Our scheduling process is a team effort that is very complex and completed with great care.  Please know that we work to place each student in the best schedule possible.
