Principal’s Message

This past Wednesday, was officially my favorite day of the year so far. After taking part in a fire and tornado drill and doing some team building activities, we took advantage of the perfect weather to get outside for our first pep assemblies of the year. I am happy to report that some student volunteers took on and beat the staff in some good ole fashioned relay races. In addition, students took part in a few auctions to bid on items such as gift cards and free pizza slices at lunch with Crusader Cash that they have earned so far this school year. Also, we recognized groups of students such as the members of the cross country and girls basketball teams for their efforts in “joining the movement” of Addams. Finally, we celebrated some of our staff members and students that have stood out by going above and beyond so far this year, in AcceptingAchieving and Amazing! It was so much fun that we are going to try and hold another pep assembly early next month before the weather turns colder.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do to further support in ensuring the success of your child.

Have a great weekend!

October Parent-Teacher Conferences

School District 54 is now making it easier than ever for families to schedule conferences with teachers. We’ve partnered with “Meet the Teacher” to provide a mobile-friendly and easy-to-use system that creates a simple and streamlined scheduling experience. To login and schedule a conference, please visit and enter the information in the text fields. Please make sure you enter the information that matches the student’s registration. If you have more than one child in District 54, you will only have to use one child’s information to login. The system will show you options for all the students in your household after you login once.

Once you’re in the system, you’ll be able to select your child’s/children’s teacher(s) and your preferred dates and times. If you prefer to have your conference virtually via Zoom, please add a message to the conference when prompted and type in the word “Zoom.”  If you prefer to have an in-person conference, please leave this blank. If you would like to change or delete any scheduled conferences, you can do so by logging in again with the same information. We encourage you to bookmark the website on your phone, tablet, or desktop to review, possibly make changes, and for future parent-teacher conference sessions.

The site will open today, Friday, September 17 at 8:00 AM and will close on Wednesday, October 6 at 4:00 PM.

For more detailed information on how to login and navigate the site, please view our guide below. If you have any questions, please call the Addams main office or email [email protected]

Eighth Grade High School Transition
In the coming weeks, District 211 will be posting some basic information including details about their course placement process as well as incoming freshmen information on their website, along with each high school’s website.  Additionally, as I receive information from District 211 regarding the transition into high school for our eighth graders, I will push that information out to the families.

Chick-Fil-A Fundraiser: LAST CALL!
The District 54 Foundation is sponsoring a Chick-Fil-A fundraiser on seven dates this school year. Please fill out and return to the school office the attached form by Friday, September 24th to have your child participate.

Vaccination Information

If have not already done so, email our school nurse [email protected] or drop off a copy of your child’s vaccination card if they are fully vaccinated. Current IDPH guidance states that vaccinated students do not have to quarantine if they are in close contact to a student that tests positive for COVID-19.

Before and After School Support

If you child needs extra academic support, we are here for them. The mathematics department provides a Math Help Center every morning starting at 7 am. Students just need to stop in the main office and we will check them in and send them up to room 207 for support. In addition, the Library Media Center is open everyday starting at 7 am and is open until 3 pm Monday through Thursday.

COVID Dashboard

With suburban Cook County now in a level of high community transmission of COVID-19 (Cook County Department of Public Health), District 54 has decided to create COVID Dashboards on each school’s website to provide families and staff with a transparent summary of instances of COVID-19 reported to District 54. A positive case indicates that the student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Please report cases of COVID-19 to our school so that we can initiate contact tracing. Parents/guardians of students identified as close contacts will be contacted directly to discuss next steps. District 54 will update these dashboards by 3 p.m. on Fridays when school is in session. Addams COVID Dashboard
