Dear Addams Community:

Our May of AMAZEMENT continued at Addams this week.

Here are just a few examples:

  •  Other than a few students needing to makeup the assessment, we are all done with MAP testing for the school year! We are tallying final data to see if the students accomplished our building MAP goal, but things are looking promising.
  • On Tuesday evening, the Addams chorus rocked it out with a wonderful concert in the Addams gym. The night was bittersweet as this was the last concert for Mrs. Caliendo who will be retiring at the end of the school year. Although we are thrilled for her, the staff and students will miss Mrs. Caliendo’s dedication and passion for the arts. The choir than took the show on the road today, touring some of our elementary buildings. Finally, this coming Monday the Addams chorus will join other junior highs at Frost for a day of collaboration.
  • On Thursday, many students from our REACH program and their partners participated in the D54 Unified Sports Day. It was an inspiring day of fellowship and competition as our group participated in the opening ceremony, soccer and basketball games.
  • Today, we had groups of Addams students that were able to showcase their leadership. First, our Student Ambassadors went to District Office for a day of training along with participating in reflective and goal setting activities. In addition, our Crusaders Connections Club members visited many Addams feeder elementary schools to meet with 6th graders. They were excited to share their experiences to help set the future Crusaders up for success.
  • We are exceeding our building goal of the pop tops for Ronald McDonald’s House. Lets keep adding all the way to the last day of school!
  • Finally, we are excited to celebrate with our 8th graders tonight as many will be attending our 8th grade dance. Thank you to the Addams PTA for funding the dance and to all the parents that have donated water, chips and desserts for this evening!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Regards,

 Bus passes for late runs

Please make sure that your child still has a bus pass. Bus drivers are requiring them for students to go on our 4 pm late runs. If they need a new one, have your child stop by the main office and we will order them one. As a reminder, to ride the late run a student MUST be able to ride a regular bus route. No students designated as walkers are allowed on late runs.

Help needed for 8th grade activity day

Pop Tops for Ronald McDonald House

The REACH program along with Student Ambassadors are running a “Let’s Pull Together” campaign for the Ronald McDonald House.  One of our students has a personal family experience with the Ronald McDonald House and benefitted tremendously from the housing and sense of community they provide during hospital stays.  Please, grab a plastic baggie or a cup RIGHT NOW, and put it out on your kitchen counter.  Ask your friends and extended families to do the same.  Anytime you pop open an aluminum can, pull off the tab and place it in the baggie.   Our goal is to fill a water jug by the end of the school year.

Adult ESL Conversation Club this Summer

District 54 is offering a conversational English club for parents who are interested in continuing to build their understanding and use of English. These classes are for those who would like to strengthen their English-speaking skills. Classes will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays from June 7 through June 28t via Zoom. Click here to register and a Zoom link will be sent to you before the first class.

Registration for 2022-23

Registration for the 2022-23 school year will open on Monday, March 28th through the Infinite Campus Portal.  Please login to review the current information and make any necessary changes.  If you do not have a portal account, you should have received an email on March 12th inviting you to create one.

As a reminder, all families are required to prove that they live within District 54 boundaries every year. If we are unable to verify your residency electronically, you will be receiving a letter by U.S. mail which will list the residency documents you can provide to the school office to complete your registration.

You are also able to pay the $50 consumable fee for 2022-23, as well as purchase milk and sign up for the instructional device insurance through the portal.  If you believe you will qualify for the Free Lunch Program in the 2022-23 school year, and therefore will receive a fee waiver, do not pay the consumable material fee now. Applications will be available in August for the Free Lunch Program.

Information about busing will be mailed the first week in June. Bus passes for those that qualify for free busing will be mailed to you in the beginning of August.
