Parents of 8th graders –

It is hard to believe today is already May 1st and we only have three more weeks of school. As we make our way towards graduation, we wanted to send you a few announcements and reminders:

Class of 2023 Yard Signs
This afternoon, as they are leaving the building, all 8th graders will be given a Class of 2023 yard sign. If your child is absent today, they can stop by the office any day this week to receive the yard sign.

“A Night Under the Stars”
The 8th grade dance will take place on May 12th from 6-8 pm. Tickets will be sold starting Monday, May 8th for $5 a ticket. Students can look forward to a live DJ, Professional Photo Booth, Culvers, prizes, and much more! Students can dress up or down, whatever makes them feel the most comfortable. Please note, if your student is absent during the school day they will not be allowed entry. This is an 8th Grade Addams only event, no student from other junior highs will be allowed to attend.

Graduation Gowns and Medallions
Next Tuesday, May 9th all students that have paid for their gown will receive it on that day. Medallions will be given on the day of graduation. If you have still not purchased your child’s graduation gown and keepsake medallion, please do so now. Payment for gowns and medallions can be made in one of three ways:

  • Log on to the school store on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and purchase the gown/medallion. The cost is $22 (with a $2 processing fee).
  • Make a check out to Addams Junior High for $22 and drop it off at the Addams office.
  • Send your student with $22 cash in an envelope with their name on it, labeled “graduation fee”.
  • Email Mr. Bingen if you need financial assistance.
  • Payment is due ASAP.  Again, your child will not receive the gown next Tuesday, if fees are not paid or arrangements have not been made with Mr. Bingen.

Graduation tickets
Each family will be provided with 6 tickets to graduation. Students will be given the tickets on the last day of school, May 19 during graduation practice.

End of the Year Accountability
It is important that our 8th graders continue to complete their classwork and homework leading up to graduation. Any student that has 3 or more missing assignments will not be able to participate in assemblies, the 8th grade dance and/or the graduation ceremony. Students are aware of this policy and have received many reminders. In addition, administration reserves the right to take away the privilege of attending these events in the event of excessive behavior.

Please let us know if you have any other questions regarding end-of-year festivities.

Regards,

 Chris Bingen
