Staff receiving award Students receive awards Mr. Caliendo getting silly stringed

#JoinTheMovementAddams

Dear Addams community:

The Addams staff and students continue to amaze, as they write the story for our school year. Last Friday, we had one of our best pep assemblies to date! The music and media departments gave out coveted Movement Awards to students and staff that represent the Addams three tenets of Joining the Movement (maintaining a growth mindset, living above the line and pursing happiness). Crusader Cash was flying around the gym to bid on the latest auction items. Additionally, Mr. Caliendo was a great sport, enduring a silly string barrage from a student that won the right through last month’s auction. Finally, a few of our students created and led out a new Addams chant to show our unity, as one school community. If you have not seen it yet, check it out @Addamscrusaders on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

Then this week, students’ balanced new learning opportunities and extracurricular activities with taking the mathematics portion of the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) assessment. The staff could not be more pleased with the efforts given on these state assessments. Taking the IAR seriously not only gives students a chance to see how they measure up against state proficiency targets, but it also helps to prepare students for high stakes assessments such as the SAT that they will see in high school. We are confident that our Crusaders will attack the English Language Arts assessments this coming Tuesday and Thursday morning with the same effort and perseverance.

As we continue our work collaboratively with you to challenge and support students this spring, do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Regards,

Chris Bingen       Kim Phelan
Principal             Assistant Principal

8th Grade Students – No Missing Assignments
Per School Board policy, eighth grade students will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony if they have any missing assignments.  Soon we will send home more information about specific check-in dates for students. In the meantime, please help us by visiting the parent portal frequently and talking to your child about the importance of doing all homework. Believe it or not we are almost halfway through the third trimester and we want to ensure that all students are able to participate in the year-end celebrations and graduation ceremony. Thank you for your support.

Registration for 2019-2020 School Year
Registration for the 2019/2020 year will be available through the parent portal starting Monday, April 1, 2019.
If you do not have a parent portal account, you should have received an email on March 15 with instructions and a link to do so.
Beginning this year, the district is contracting with a third-party vendor to automatically verify student address information. If your residency is verified electronically, you will not need to submit any additional paperwork to certify that you live within the district’s boundaries. To verify residency, the vendor will use a parent’s name and address to crosscheck the information against electronic databases from other organizations, such as utility companies.

We anticipate most addresses will be verified electronically. If we cannot verify your address electronically, we will send you a letter detailing what additional information you will need to provide in order to register your child for the upcoming school year.
