Teacher appreciation day  Teacher's at Ricarrdo's restaurant  Students working on Chromebooks

Dear Addams Community,

As “staff appreciation week” comes to an end, we would like to extend our thanks to the amazing staff of Jane Addams for all that they do to ensure the student success of each student at our school! In addition, thank you to the Addams PTA for generously providing the staff with an amazing breakfast, lunch and gift card raffle this week! We value our partnership with the PTA and all of our parents.

Additionally, we would like to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all of our moms! Have a great weekend!

Regards,

PTA News

The end of the school year, and your child’s District 54 career, is nearing very quickly! As we count down the remaining days to graduation, there are two big events that the Addams PTA needs your help with.

  • Friday, May 18–8th Grade Dance: We are looking for a few people to help decorate for the dance that afternoon as well as a few people to help serve snacks, and supervise the snack room, during the dance.
  • Thursday, May 24–8th Grade Activity Day: This is a fun way for our students to spend their last day of school in between graduation practices.  We are in need of volunteers to help set up and supervise the game stations during the activities that are scheduled.
  • If you are unable to volunteer your time, but would like to help, we are happy to accept donations of 8 oz “mini” water bottles. These water bottles can be dropped off at the main office anytime between now and 3 pm on Tuesday, May 22. Water will be provided to students at the dance as well as during the activity day.

Please feel free to sign up for either day or both days if you are available by clicking this link:  www.SignUpGenius.com/go/60B0A4AACAC29A5FE3-dance

Eighth Grade Dance

On Friday, May 18, 2018, our eighth grade students are invited to attend an end-of-the-year dance at Addams Junior High.  The event will run from 6-8 PM and will require parent permission. Tickets will be on sale this week during lunch periods. In order to buy a ticket, students must turn in the food permission slip.  As a reminder, students need to maintain academic and behavioral expectations in order to attend.

8th Grade Students – No Missing Assignments

Per School Board policy, eighth grade students will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony if they have any missing assignments.  Now that the graduation date is set, we will send home more information about specific check-in dates for students. In the meantime, please help us by visiting the parent portal frequently and talking to your child about the importance of doing all homework. We want to ensure that all students are able to participate in the year-end celebrations and graduation ceremony. Thank you for your support.
