Cancer walk Student award winners Cancer walk

Dear Addams Community,

It was another amazing week of learning at Addams Junior High! It is hard to believe, but on Wednesday morning, we held our last Be Addams Assembly of the school year. It is always such a wonderful way to honor our staff and students for their commitment to Joining the Movement of Addams.

Additionally on the half day, students committed to a 21-Day Challenge to increase their happiness quotient. Over the last few months, we have experienced each of the five tenets to increase happiness (committing conscious acts of kindness, showing gratitude, exercising, meditation or journaling) and now we want students to commit to practicing one each day for the next 21 days. We know that students that participate will see personal benefits and also make a difference to those around them. Please support your child in completing this challenge.

Finally, our yearly Cancer Walk was a resounding success! The Student Ambassador Club is excited to announce that our school raised a total of $2,225.00 for Camp Sunshine! We want to thank all our staff and students for their hard work and dedication for such a great cause. We are proud of everyone’s willingness to support children and families through the Camp Sunshine experience. We especially want to thank Austin Hoffman, Alyssa Crum, and Daniel Maldonado for going above and beyond in their effort to raise money for Camp Sunshine.

Have a great weekend!

Graduation Date

The graduation date and time for Addams 8th grade students has been approved for Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 8:45 PM at Schaumburg High School. In the coming weeks, additional information and details regarding graduation and end-of-the year activities will be mailed home.  Please note that tickets are not required for graduation, but in the interest of space, we respectfully ask that only immediate family members are in attendance. May 24 is a full day of school and is the last day of attendance for 8th grade students.

8th Grade Students – No Missing Assignments

Per School Board policy, eighth grade students will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony if they have any missing assignments.  Once the graduation date is set, we will send home more information about specific check-in dates for students. In the meantime, please help us by visiting the parent portal frequently and talking to your child about the importance of doing all homework. Although we are early in the third trimester, we want to ensure that all students are able to participate in the year-end celebrations and graduation ceremony. Thank you for your support.

Eighth Grade Dance
On Friday, May 18, 2018, our eighth grade students are invited to attend an end-of-the-year dance at Addams Junior High.  The event will run from 6-8 PM and will require parent permission. Student permission slips were given to students. Extra copies are available in the office, cafeteria or on the Addams website. As a reminder, students need to maintain academic and behavioral expectations in order to attend.
