Rock stars track practice Students working on a project

Dear Addams Community,

It looks like the weather is going to be cool and dreary this weekend. Sounds like a perfect time to catch up with your child(ren) about how they have “joined the movement” of Jane Addams this week. I would highly suggest having them take out their Chromebook and ask for a sample of work from each of their classes. I am sure you will be as amazed as we are each day with the growth that they are showing!

Additionally, Ms. Phelan and I had a fun time “making good” on our bet to lip synch for Mr. Caliendo and Mr. Burger’s first period classes today. These students were rewarded (we guess) for bringing in the most food items in our recent school food drive. See the picture above for evidence of the rocking event.

Have an amazing weekend!

Regards,

Chris Bingen and Kim Phelan

Pledge sheets will be distributed during 1st period classes or you can print out the one posted (https://addams.sd54.org/2018/04/10/cancer-walk/ ).  We are selling wristbands for $2 and paper stars (to honor loved ones whose life has been affected by cancer) for 25 cents each.  These can be purchased in the cafeteria during lunch periods throughout the school day. All money raised will be donated to Camp Sunshine, which is a camp for children and families impacted by cancer. All students are welcome to attend & families are invited to accompany their children to walk for a cure on May 2nd.  Hope to see you there!

Graduation Date

The graduation date and time for Addams 8th grade students has been approved for Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 8:45 PM at Schaumburg High School. In the coming weeks, additional information and details regarding graduation and end-of-the year activities will be mailed home.  Please note that tickets are not required for graduation, but in the interest of space, we respectfully ask that only immediate family members are in attendance. 8th Grade Students – No Missing Assignments

Per School Board policy, eighth grade students will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony if they have any missing assignments.  Once the graduation date is set, we will send home more information about specific check-in dates for students. In the meantime, please help us by visiting the parent portal frequently and talking to your child about the importance of doing all homework. Although we are early in the third trimester, we want to ensure that all students are able to participate in the year-end celebrations and graduation ceremony. Thank you for your support.
