News from Addams 5/30/2017
Dear Addams community,
We hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend! The weather certainly cooperated. As we get ready for 8th grade graduation and the last week of school, I would just like to thank the entire Addams community for your support this year. One of the main reasons we have such an amazing culture for learning at our school is our partnership with our parents. Thank you for all that you do to work together with us as we ensure student success for each student!

Residency Renewal For All Families and Infinite Campus Parent Portal Information
It is time to register for the 2017–18 school year. In early April, parents whose students will attend a District 54 school next year were mailed registration instructions for the 2017–2018 school year.
To complete the registration process, all District 54 families are required to prove residency annually at the time of registration. For a list of documents needed to fulfill residency requirements, please click here. All documentation provided must be current, valid for 2017-2018, and reflect name and address within the boundaries of District 54.
Parents are encouraged to complete this process online through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. The portal is a website where parents and guardians can log in and view information about your children’s grades, assignments, immunizations, test scores, demographic information and much more. You will be able to pay your fees and upload your proof of residency through the parent portal (although paper copies will still be accepted at our schools as well). If you do not know how to setup your portal account, contact our main office for support.
Report Cards Online June 5
Addams parents/guardians and students will be able to view their report cards online this semester on June 5, more than a week before the hard copy report cards are mailed on June 14. District 54 is piloting the online report card in an effort to share information in a timelier manner and to become more environmentally friendly by not printing report cards for parents who prefer the online version.
I want to ensure that all of our parents have access to this early viewing of the report card, so I highly encourage you to sign up for the District 54 Infinite Campus Parent/Student Portal before June 5. If you have not previously logged on to the portal, contact our front office for instructions on how to obtain a secure Campus Portal Activation Key.
If you have already created an account, to view the report card on June 5 you must first log in to the account from a computer (the report card will not be accessible in the app).
Click on the Report Card link on the left side of your screen. This link will take you to another page, where you will be asked to log in again for security reasons. After logging in, you will see the report card files for all of your children. Click on any of the report cards to download the pdf file.
This year, on June 14, we plan to mail a report card to each home. Next year, we will only be making hard copies available for families who are unable to access the report cards online.
Please know that 8th grade student accounts will be disabled on Thursday, June 1. Students have been informed that they need to download a copy of any files that they would like to keep. Once the account is disabled, they will not be able to access those files. Files can be downloaded onto a flash drive for use on another computer.
Our 7th grade student accounts will be suspended on Friday, June 2. These accounts will be reactivated next year when they return to Addams. Students have been told that they should copy any files that they would like to have access to over the summer. Files can be downloaded onto a flash drive for use on another computer.
Thank you for all of your support and understanding during the year as we implemented our one-to-one Chromebook initiative. We have found these devices to be excellent instructional resources for our students and staff.
Lost and Found
As we are getting closer to the end of the year, I would like to have you encourage your student to check the various lost-and- found locations within the school. Many items end up in the main office or on the lost-and-found tables at the school. Please have your student check these locations to retrieve any misplaced or lost items.
From the Nurse
Please remember to pick up your child’s medication at school no later than June 2, 2017. An adult must pick up the medication. We will only be able to send inhalers home with your child. If you do not pick up the medication by June 2, the medication will be disposed of. Thank you for your cooperation.
Focus on the D54 Foundation, May 2017 – Golf Outing and Boomers Game
Join the District 54 Education Foundation for our 20th annual golf outing on June 12 and make a difference in the life of a child!
This outing at the Schaumburg Golf Club is the Foundation’s largest fundraising event. All proceeds support the Food 4 Thought breakfast program, STEM after-school clubs and grants for students from financially struggling households. This year we were able to award nearly $35,000 in grants for 330 students to participate in summer programs and classes!
Please consider supporting District 54 children by becoming an event sponsor or golfing. We are also looking for items for our silent auction, as well as gift cards from local businesses to award as prizes.
Visit http://d54foundation.com/events/golf to sponsor, register or for more information.
You can also support the Foundation by attending the Schaumburg Boomers game on Friday, June 2. Tickets cost $11 and include free parking and post-game fireworks. Children are invited to run the bases at the end of the game. For each ticket sold, $5 will be donated to the Foundation. The Addams Junior High School chorus will perform the National Anthem before the game.
