PBIS
PBIS Tid-Bits
Welcome to ADDAMS!!
What is PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. PBIS is a research-based, proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. As a Response to Intervention model, PBIS applies a problem-solving process and a three-tiered system of support to effectively educate all students. The three levels of support are Universal (Schoolwide), Secondary (Check-In Check-Out & Small Group), and Tertiary (Individualized).
Behavior Expectations
During the first week of school, students were taught behavior expectations for riding the bus, walking to and from school, entering and exiting assemblies, using lockers, hallways, restrooms, and the cafeteria. Students are recognized for displaying positive behavior and rewarded when they display behavior that reflects the “3 Be’s of Addams”- Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. .
School wide Goals
PBIS is a systemic response to intervention based on data. We are constantly reviewing behavioral documentation and designing interventions based on what we see. Addams Universal Team members will review data and set school wide goals throughout the year. Nationally, schools see an increase in behavioral concerns around the holidays so after winter break and after spring break we will re-teach expected behaviors in the areas of respect, responsibility, and safety.
